Heart diseases have been rising at an alarming rate among women in India. Several factors triggered the rise of heart problems in India that included erratic diet, inactive lifestyle, stress, and lifestyle changes, among others.

Studies point out over 40% of all deaths in women are linked to cardiovascular disease (CVD), and Indian women are experiencing heart attacks nearly a decade earlier than their western counterparts. Approximately 4-6% of women in India encounter strokes by the age of 64, compared to just 3-4% in the West. Therefore, it becomes crucial to start doing the right things that will lead to a healthy heart and overall well-being. Below are some key habits that will boost your heart health:

Stay Physically Active

It is imperative to become physically active in the day-to-day life. Instead of watching television or remaining glued to the laptops or phones, it is important to become physically active as it will help in boosting the heart health. It is significant to take walks, spend time on outdoor activities, and cover more distance walking.

Follow a Healthy Diet

Food has direct relation with your heart health and overall wellbeing. Some foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and garlic provide considerable benefits to the heart health.

Ensure Adequate Sleep

It is crucial to take adequate sleep for a healthy heart. People who do not get sufficient sleep will remain at a higher risk of cardiovascular diseases or heart ailments.  Dr. Saurabh Sethi, leading gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford Universities shared on his Instagram 4 things that no one should do for a healthy heart.
