He said, “Ditch these 5 ‘W’s from your ingredients. Your body deserves clean, wholesome food—because what you cook is what you become.” He stated, “There are 5 W’s you should not have in your kitchen. And, what to replace them with.” 1 Below they are:
1: White Sugar: The first thing that Dr Chopra recommended to avoid in the kitchen is white sugar which is refined, addictive, and inflammatory. It spikes insulin and feeds gut imbalance. He advised to replace white sugar with jaggery, raw honey, dates, and coconut sugar.
2. White Flour (Maida): He divulged that maida or white flour contains no fibre and no nutrition. It behaves like sugar in your body. Replace white flour with millets, whole wheat, oats, almond flour, and besan.
According to a report featured in Brown Health University, “Cereal can be part of a quick and healthy meal anytime of the day, but the nutritional value of cereals varies dramatically. When looking at the ingredient list, aim for “100% whole” whether it be wheat, corn, oats or other grain. As for fiber, aim for at least five grams per serving.” 2
