Ingredients Required

  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)

  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder

  • ½ teaspoon red chilli powder or chopped green chillies (optional)

  • ½ teaspoon carom seeds or ajwain (for better digestion)

  • Salt to taste

  • ½ cup chopped onions

  • ½ cup chopped tomatoes

  • 2 tablespoon chopped capsicum  

  • 2 tablespoon fresh chopped coriander leaves

  • Water (as per requirement to prepare batter)

  • 1 grated carrot

  • ½ cup chopped spinach leaves

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons of oil or butter for cooking

Steps To Prepare  

  • Add besan, turmeric powder, red chilli powder or chopped green chilies, ajwain, and salt in mixing bowl. Mix all the ingredients properly. Add water gradually while constantly stirring to prepare a smooth batter. The consistency of the batter should be neither too thick or too runny.  

  • Add chopped onions, tomatoes, grated carrot, chopped spinach leaves, and coriander leaves. Mix everything in an even manner.  

  • Heat the non-stick pan or tawa on medium flame. Grease it lightly with oil or butter.  

  • Pick one slice of bread and spread a layer of besan mixture evenly on one side by ensuring that the vegetables stick properly to the surface.  

  • Place the bread slice on the hot pan with the besan-coated side facing down. Allow it to cook for at least 3 minutes on medium flame until golden brown and crisp.  

  • Apply some oil on the top side and then flip the bread and cook the other side for 2 minutes. Press gently with the help of a spatula to ensure even cooking.  

  • Repeat the process with the remaining bread slices.  

  • You can serve the bread toast with tomato ketchup. You may sprinkle chaat masala or grated cheese on top for enhancing the flavor. Pair it with a cup of hot tea or coffe or fresh juice.

  • You must ensure that the batter is smooth without any lumps. Try to cook on medium flame to ensure that the toast is cooked without burning. The recipe can be a perfect addition to your weight loss healthy diet.
