Steps To Prepare

  • Preheat oven to 180°C and grease the cake tin. Take large pan, sift together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In another pan, mix oil, sugar, buttermilk, vanilla extract, vinegar, and red food colouring until smooth. Combine all dry ingredients slowly with wet mixture. Stir slowly till everything is mixed properly. Avoid overmixing as it can impact softness of the cake.

  • Pour the batter into cake tin and smooth the top. Bake for at least 30 minutes or until the toothpick is inserted at the centre and comes out without any particles of cake. Let the cake cool properly prior to frosting.

  • Beat cream cheese and butter in a pan until they turn creamy and smooth. Slowly add powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until fluffy and light.

  • As soon as the cake is properly cooled, spread cream cheese frosting evenly on top. Try to decorate with heart-shaped sprinkles, red crumbs, or fresh strawberries for that unique touch to mark the occasion.

  • Always try to use room temperature ingredients for smooth batter. Never skin vinegar as it reacts with baking soda for that stunning soft texture.  Allow the cake to cool properly before frosting.
