Hair fall has emerged a common issue often indicating some underlying issues ranging from genetics, stress to hormonal shifts like PCOS or thyroid, nutritional deficiencies, scalp infections, and specific medications. While loss of nearly 50 to 100 hair everyday is considered normal as per dermatologists, excessive shedding beyond this number suggests an imbalance that may impact hair roots.

It requires proper inspection of the root cause through diet changes, stress management or even medical interventions in some extreme cases for effective cure. Many people experience hair woes and try all sort of cures to get rid of hair fall. Recently, a video has gained popularity on social media showing how a temple in Japan is exclusively dedicated to hair loss cures. The video has been shared by travel influencer Shervin Abdolhamidi.

Shervin said, “Tucked away next to the famous Arashiyama bamboo forest in Kyoto is the Mikami Shrine, the only shrine dedicated to hair.” It may feel odd and unbelievable at first, but many tourists flock to this temple for hair fall and hair loss issues.

Delving into the history of the temple, Shervin highlighted that the shrine in Japan seeks to honour Fujiwara Unemenosuke Masayuki, the first hairdresser in Japan. “He was so revered for his work that for hundreds of years, barbers and hair salons closed their shops on the day of his death each month, the 17th,” added Shervin.

Even after several years, many barbers and stylists still visit the shrine to receive the blessings of Fujiwara Unemenosuke Masayuki. The travel influencer also decided to give it a shot for his hair loss and hoped for a miracle. He also highlighted the unique way of offering prayers at the shrine in the video.

“The way you pray is by making a hair offering called Kampatsu. First, you buy an offering envelope for about 3.5 dollars and write your name and date of birth on it. Then, the Shinto priest cuts a strand of your hair and puts it in the envelope,” he added

It is then followed by offering a prayer to the Fujiwara. The envelope will be then given back to the priest, who gives you the assurance that he would pray for the health of your tresses. Shervin also admitted in the video that there is no real remedy for hair loss or hair fall, but he just gave it a try to find a remedy to his hair issue.
