How To Clean Cabbage Properly?

  • The first step involves removing the outer 2-3 layers of the vegetable as they get maximum exposure to dust, dirt, chemicals, and worms.

  • Cut cabbage into two halves as it will open the several layers thus making is convenient to find out any hidden insect or worm.

  • Leave the chopped cabbage in warm salt water for at least 15 minutes as presence of salt will help in removing worms and insects from the layers.

  • Now fill a pan with clean water and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of vinegar and drop the cabbage in the water for 7 to 8 minutes. Vinegar can kill harmful and deadly bacteria and prompts the worms to come out from the leaves.

  • Wash the cabbage for 3 to 4 times in running water as it will remove all the vinegar, salt, worms, and insects.

  • Check the leaves thoroughly and separate them in case any worm or insect is still left inside. It is imperative to clean the cabbage properly as it will ensure proper hygiene, safety, and offer you peace of mind.
