Xiaomi’s latest flagship smartphones bring notable upgrades in performance, imaging and battery capacity. With Leica-backed cameras, brighter displays and Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon chipset, the Xiaomi 17 series is positioned to challenge some of the most competitive devices in India’s premium smartphone segment.
The Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra were announced globally last month, and now the company has launched the Xiaomi 17 series phones in India. Notably, the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra come as successors to the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
These newly announced phones feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, Leica-powered cameras, high-refresh-rate AMOLED displays and premium pricing. Here's the pricing, availability and specifications of the newly announced Xiaomi phones.

The Xiaomi 17 price in India starts at Rs 89,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model, while the 12GB + 512GB variant has been launched for Rs 99,999. However, as part of the launch offer, customers can buy the 512GB model at the price of the 256GB variant between March 13 and March 17 as an early bird offer.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is priced at Rs 1,39,999 for the sole 16GB + 512GB variant. This is the first time the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has touched this price mark. To recall, the predecessor was launched for Rs 1,09,999. It can be availed at an effective price of Rs 1,29,999 via an instant discount of Rs 10,000 on SBI credit cards and credit card EMI options.
The Xiaomi 17 was launched in Black, Ice Blue, and Venture Green colour options, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be available in Black and White colours for Indian consumers. They will be available via the company's online store, retail stores, and Amazon starting March 18.

Display
The Xiaomi 17 features a 6.3-inch LTPO AMOLED display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate, similar to its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15. However, the peak brightness has been increased to 3,500 nits from 3,200 nits. The phone also packs Pro HDR, Wet Touch technology, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision for an enhanced display experience.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra boasts a larger 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display instead of the 6.72-inch WQHD+ AMOLED display seen on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. It retains other display features like the Xiaomi 17.
Chipset & Software
In terms of chipset, the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 3nm chipset, which is said to be more powerful and faster compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite seen on their predecessors.
The chipset is also equipped with an Adreno GPU and Qualcomm AI engine, which are said to offer fast, efficient and privacy-focused AI features like generative models and smart processing.
Furthermore, the chipset is paired with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage.
The Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra run Android 16-based HyperOS 3 with six years of software and security updates.
Cameras
In terms of optics, the Xiaomi 17 is equipped with a triple camera setup powered by Leica, featuring a 50MP OIS 1/1.31-inch Light Fusion 950 image sensor main camera, a 50MP OV50M ultrawide sensor, and a 50MP OIS 1/2.75-inch Samsung JN5 image sensor telephoto camera.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has a 50MP OIS 1-inch Light Fusion 1050L primary camera, a 50MP 1/2.75-inch Samsung JN5 image sensor, and a 200MP OIS Samsung HPE 1/1.4-inch telephoto sensor.
The camera specifications of the Xiaomi 17 series suggest that they offer improved imaging features and better low-light photography compared to their predecessors.
The selfie camera on the Xiaomi 15 series offered a 32MP sensor. However, it has now been upgraded to a 50MP sensor.
Battery & Charging
The Xiaomi 17 houses a 6,330mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging support, compared to the 5,240mAh battery and 90W wired charging on the Xiaomi 15.
On the other hand, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra comes with a slightly smaller 6,000mAh battery, but it is still larger than the 5,410mAh battery seen on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
Additionally, the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra include 50W wireless charging support.
The Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra have been launched as premium smartphones and compete with some of the latest flagship smartphones from brands like Apple, Vivo and Samsung. Keeping the price point in mind, the Xiaomi 17 competes with phones like the iPhone Air and Vivo X300 Pro, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra competes with the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Notably, the iPhone Air is priced at Rs 93,499 on Amazon and includes features like a slim design with a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, along with ProMotion technology with adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz, the A19 Pro chip, a single 48MP Fusion main camera, an 18MP selfie camera, and an IP68 rating.

On the other hand, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra's direct competition would be the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is priced at Rs 1,39,999. It is Samsung's flagship model and offers a 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate and a Privacy Display feature. Like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, it also packs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC and a quad rear camera setup that includes a 200MP main camera. Along with that, it has a 5,000mAh battery with 60W wired charging support.
