Apple's rumoured iPhone Fold may introduce side-by-side multitasking and iPad-style layouts, according to a report. The foldable device is expected to feature a large inner display, a smaller outer screen and a wider aspect ratio for better video viewing and app optimisation. It may debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro later this year.

Apple is anticipated to announce its first foldable smartphone this year. While a recent report suggested it might house the biggest battery the company has ever incorporated in an iPhone, a new report suggests that the company could introduce side-by-side app support along with iPad-style layouts on the upcoming device. Here's what we know regarding the rumoured iPhone Fold.

iPhone Fold Leaks

According to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the iPhone Fold could offer support for side-by-side apps along with iPad-style layouts, which are only partly available on existing iPhones when the device is used in landscape mode.

The report suggests that the iPhone Fold will likely feature an inner foldable display roughly the size of an iPad mini. It is also likely to include an outer screen similar in size to a small iPhone display.

Citing this report, 9to5Mac states that the upcoming foldable phone will have a wider aspect ratio compared to existing foldable smartphones. This could offer advantages such as a better video-watching experience and easier optimisation of existing iPhone apps for the larger foldable display.

Additionally, the tech giant is reportedly working on new iOS app layouts and redesigning some of its core iPhone apps to include sidebars on the left edge of the screen, similar to many iPad apps. Developers are also expected to adapt their iPhone apps for the new interface, which will likely follow proportions similar to an iPad in landscape mode.

iPhone Fold Expected Details

Though not confirmed, the tech giant is expected to announce the rumoured iPhone Fold alongside the iPhone 18 Pro in September. Like the Pro variant, this upcoming foldable device will run iOS 27, which is yet to be announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, scheduled to take place in June.

The iPhone Fold is expected to include a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer display. This device might be powered by the A20 Pro chipset, paired with up to 12GB RAM. Additionally, it is expected to sport two 48MP cameras and two 18MP front cameras. Furthermore, it is said to house a 5,500mAh battery.

It is worth noting that the iPhone Fold is still a rumoured device, but a number of speculations and leaks have appeared online in the recent past. More details regarding this foldable phone are expected to arrive in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates.
