Apple has launched the new iPad Air (2026) with the M4 chip, upgraded 12GB RAM, iPadOS 26, and support for Wi-Fi 7. The tablet comes in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, starts at Rs 64,900 in India, and will be available from March 11.
Alongside the iPhone 17e, Apple has launched its new-gen iPad Air. Its major highlight is its M4 chip, which is said to be 30 percent faster than the iPad Air with the M3 chip. Alongside that, it features upgraded RAM, iPadOS 26, and more.

The Wi-Fi variant of the 11-inch model comes for Rs 64,900, Rs 74,900, Rs 94,900, and Rs 1,14,900 for the 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants, respectively. Meanwhile, the Wi-Fi + Cellular variants are priced at Rs 79,900, Rs 89,900, Rs 1,09,900, and Rs 1,29,900, respectively.
On the other hand, the Wi-Fi variant of the iPad Air with a 13-inch display comes for Rs 84,900, Rs 94,900, Rs 1,14,900, and Rs 1,34,900 for the 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants, respectively. Additionally, the Wi-Fi + Cellular variants cost Rs 99,900, Rs 1,09,900, Rs 1,29,900, and Rs 1,49,900, respectively.
The pre-orders for the iPad Air 2026 will start from March 4, and it will be available starting March 11 through Apple's official site and other platforms.
The new-gen iPad Air has been launched in four colour options -- Blue, Space Gray, Starlight, and Purple.
The iPad Air features a Liquid Retina LCD panel with IPS technology, P3 wide colour gamut, fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating, and more. While the 11-inch model offers a 2360 x 1640 pixel resolution and 500 nits brightness, the 13-inch variant features a 2732 x 2048 pixel resolution and 600 nits brightness.
The highlight of the new iPad Air is the M4 chip, which debuted on the iPad Pro in 2024 and is claimed to be 30 percent faster than the iPad Air with the M3 chip. The difference is expected to be noticeable during tasks like video editing and playing graphics-heavy games. Meanwhile, both chips can handle everyday activities normally.

he M4 chip also brings improvements in AI performance, supported by higher memory bandwidth and a faster Neural Engine. It is claimed to benefit tasks like transcribing notes and planning creative projects.
The 16-core Neural Engine is said to be up to three times faster than the one on the M1 chip. It also enables features in Apple’s pro apps, including background removal in video using Scene Removal Mask in Final Cut Pro.
Furthermore, the new model also increases memory to 12GB from 8GB on the earlier generation.
Additionally, the iPad Air 2026 also includes N1 and C1X modems offering fast wireless and cellular connections, along with support for Wi-Fi 7.
The iPad Air flaunts a 12MP rear camera offering up to 5x zoom and includes features like Panorama, Smart HDR 4, auto image stabilisation, and more. For selfies and video calls, it has a 12MP Center Stage camera (landscape), offering 1080p HD video recording at 25 fps, 30 fps, or 60 fps.
With iPadOS 26, Apple introduces a new menu bar that lets users access app commands by swiping down from the top of the display or by moving the cursor to the top of the screen.
The Files app has been updated with an improved List view and new folder customisation options, making it easier to manage and organise documents. Users can also add folders to the Dock for quick access and set default apps for specific file types.
The iPad now gets a dedicated Preview app that allows users to create quick sketches and view, edit, or mark up PDFs and images using Apple Pencil, which is sold separately, or touch.
