Smartphone brand Motorola is likely planning to unveil its first foldable smartphone. So far, the company's focus has been on flip-style devices under the Razr branding. However, things are likely taking a shift.

While Motorola is yet to reveal or comment officially, a recent leak by well-known tipster Evan Blass suggests the company is now working on its first book-style foldable smartphone. The tipster has shared images of a foldable device on X (formerly Twitter), which we believe might be the upcoming Razr Fold.

Motorola Razr Fold colours, design (expected)

The leaked images suggest that the phone could be launched in White and Black colour options. Furthermore, the leaked images suggest that the upcoming Razr Fold will adopt a conventional book-style foldable form factor. When unfolded, the foldable phone resembles a compact tablet, featuring slim bezels and a centrally positioned punch-hole camera on the inner display.

The hinge looks flush in the open position, hinting at a relatively subtle crease, while the frame appears squared with slightly rounded edges. At the rear, the foldable device is shown with a squared camera module that houses four circular cut-outs arranged in a grid.

While there is no information regarding the exact camera configuration, the design hints at a possible triple rear camera setup along with an LED flash. The back panel seems to use a matte, textured finish, with the Motorola logo placed at the centre. The overall design is restrained, with minimal branding and a focus on symmetry, in line with current trends seen across book-style foldable smartphones.

In terms of appearance, the alleged Razr Fold bears similarities to other devices in this category, including Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series and OPPO’s Find N lineup. But how well Motorola’s entry stacks up against these established models is likely to depend on factors such as hinge durability, display quality, and pricing.

Motorola has also released a teaser on Instagram that traces its evolution from traditional smartphones to flip-style foldables, before briefly hinting at a book-style design. The teaser ends with a reference to the Lenovo Tech World CES event, suggesting that more details could be revealed at the event.
