With an aim to take on Windows-based laptops, tech giant Apple has announced its low-cost MacBook for Indian consumers. This all-new MacBook Neo is priced under Rs 70,000, and with this launch, the company marks its entry into one of the busiest segments of the laptop market dominated by brands like Dell, HP, Lenovo, and ASUS. Notably, the Apple MacBook Neo features the A18 Pro chipset paired with 8GB of RAM, a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, and all-day battery life. Here's the price, features, and all the other details of the Apple MacBook Neo.

Users can pre-order the device through the company's official site. Starting March 11, the MacBook Neo will be available for purchase through the official Apple Retail Stores and Apple Authorised Resellers.
The all-new MacBook Neo features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a 2408 x 1506 resolution, 500 nits of brightness, and an anti-reflective coating. These features are said to offer an enhanced user experience for those looking for a machine to edit photos, watch movies, or attend video calls or conferences.
Additionally, this MacBook is paired with the brand's Magic Keyboard for typing, while a large Multi-Touch trackpad allows users to click, scroll, swipe, and pinch anywhere on its surface. The MacBook Neo model with Touch ID allows users to log in and authorise purchases using Apple Pay.
The MacBook Neo is powered by the A18 Pro chip, which is touted as an efficient 3nm chip for on-device AI workloads, gaming, and performance. Notably, this chipset powers the iPhone 16 Pro lineup, including the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The company claims that it is up to 50 percent faster for everyday tasks than some of the bestselling PCs with the latest Intel Core Ultra 5.
The MacBook Neo boasts a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and is claimed to have optimised image processing for video calls. Along with that, there are dual microphones and speakers that offer support for Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos.
The MacBook Neo runs macOS and comes with inbuilt apps, including FaceTime, Safari Messages and more. Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence features, such as Writing Tools, Live Translation, and others, are also integrated across macOS to support different apps and tasks.
Furthermore, the macOS offers automatic security updates and includes security features such as encryption and virus protection.
While the company did not reveal the battery capacity, it mentions that this affordable MacBook can provide up to 16 hours of battery life on a single charge. It includes two USB-C ports for connecting accessories or an external display, which can also be used for charging, along with a headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 6.
Because of its pricing, the MacBook Neo will find itself in a crowded market, where Windows-based laptops are already taking the lead. In this price range, you may find several laptops offering chipsets like Intel Core Ultra or AMD Ryzen processors with higher RAM options.
Additionally, we have noticed that laptops such as the Dell Inspiron lineup, HP Pavilion series, and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim focus on portability, battery life and displays, while laptops like the Acer Nitro V and Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming series offer dedicated graphics for gaming and heavier workloads, yet are still priced under Rs 70,000.
With the MacBook Neo, it can be said that the tech giant is bringing a macOS-based option in this price segment aimed at everyday tasks and integration with the Apple ecosystem.
