Lenovo Legion Gen 11 Gaming Laptops Launched in India: Are They Worth Buying?

In a bid to expand its gaming lineup, Lenovo has launched the Legion 5i Gen 11, Legion 5a Gen 11 and LOQ 15AHP11 in India. The two Legion models use the same 15.3-inch OLED display, while the LOQ uses IPS. The Legion 5i is the Intel option, while the Legion 5a and LOQ use AMD processors.

I would not treat the Gen 11 label as a reason to upgrade on its own. The Legion 5i and 5a are closely matched in design and display, while the LOQ takes a different approach with a lower position in the lineup. The GPU and display configuration you choose will also make a difference to the buying decision.

So, if you are looking at one of these laptops, the question is not simply whether it is new. It is whether the configuration makes sense for what you actually need. Let us look at what Lenovo has launched in India.

Lenovo Legion Gen 11 Gaming Laptops Price & Availability

The newly launched LOQ 15AHP11 is the most affordable of the three, starting at ₹1,99,990. The Legion 5a starts at ₹2,25,990, while the Legion 5i starts at ₹2,65,990.

The three laptops are available through the company's official site, exclusive brand stores and select retail outlets. Lenovo.com also offers Custom-to-Order configurations, so buyers can choose the specifications they need instead of being limited to a fixed configuration.

For Custom-to-Order purchases, Lenovo states a 15–20 day delivery period. That is separate from the availability of the standard configurations through the other sales channels.

Legion 5i vs Legion 5a vs LOQ 15AHP11: What's Different?

The Legion 5i is the Intel option, using the Intel Core Ultra 7 356H with an RTX 5060 Laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR7. It also has LA1 + LA3 AI Core Chips, Legion Coldfront: Hyper cooling and a 15.3-inch WQXGA OLED display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 165Hz refresh rate and 500 nits brightness.

The Legion 5a moves to AMD with the Ryzen 7 250 (Ryzen 200 Series). It is available with either an RTX 5060 or RTX 5050 Laptop GPU, both with 8GB GDDR7. It has the LA1 AI Core Chip and the same Legion Coldfront: Hyper cooling as the 5i. The display is also a 15.3-inch WQXGA OLED panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 165Hz refresh rate and 500 nits brightness.

The LOQ 15AHP11 also uses the Ryzen 7 250 (Ryzen 200 Series) and offers either an RTX 5060 or RTX 5050 Laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR7. It uses an LA1 AI Core Chip and Hyperchamber Cooling. The display options are a 15.3-inch WQXGA 180Hz IPS or WUXGA 165Hz IPS LCD.

All three can be configured with 16GB or 32GB DDR5 memory at 5600 MT/s, and storage goes up to 2TB M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSD. The exact configuration depends on the model and variant.

The battery is another clear difference. The Legion 5i and 5a have 80Wh batteries, while the LOQ has a 60Wh battery with Rapid Charge. The 5i specifically lists Rapid Charge Pro.

Weight also separates the Legion models from the LOQ. The Legion 5i has an Eclipse Black chassis with a swappable rear cover and weighs around 1.87kg. The Legion 5a also uses an Eclipse Black chassis and weighs around 1.87kg. The LOQ 15AHP11 comes in Luna Grey and weighs around 2.1kg.

The basic split is fairly simple: the Legion 5i is the Intel model with the RTX 5060 and LA1 + LA3 AI hardware, the Legion 5a gives you AMD with OLED and RTX 5060/5050 options, while the LOQ costs less but has an IPS display, smaller battery and heavier chassis.

Legion 5i, 5a or LOQ: Which One Makes More Sense?

The Lenovo Legion 5i Gen 11 makes more sense if you specifically want the Intel configuration and RTX 5060. The Lenovo Legion 5a Gen 11 is the AMD option if you want the OLED display but also want the choice of an RTX 5060 or RTX 5050.

The Lenovo LOQ 15AHP11 makes more sense if you want to spend less and are comfortable with its IPS display, smaller battery and heavier chassis. It still gives you the Ryzen 7 250 with RTX 5060 or RTX 5050 options, so the lower price does not mean you are giving up the same processor and GPU options available on the Legion 5a.

I would therefore look at the exact GPU and display configuration before deciding. If OLED, weight and battery capacity matter to you, the Legion models make more sense. If those are less important and you want to keep the price lower, the LOQ is the more practical option.

What You Get for the Extra Money

The extra money for the Legion models mainly goes towards the OLED display, lighter chassis and larger battery. The Legion 5i and 5a also use Legion Coldfront -- Hyper cooling, while the LOQ uses Hyperchamber Cooling.

It is worth noting that the higher price does not automatically mean a faster CPU or GPU. The Legion 5i uses the Core Ultra 7 356H and RTX 5060, while the Legion 5a and LOQ both use the Ryzen 7 250 with RTX 5060 or RTX 5050 options.

For me, the decision comes down to what you value more. The Legion models make more sense if the display, battery and weight justify the higher price. If you mainly want the Ryzen 7 250 and an RTX 5060 or RTX 5050 while spending less, the LOQ 15AHP11 is the simpler choice.
