Nothing CEO stressed that the brand does not want to follow the usual industry pattern of launching a new flagship every year. Unlike most smartphone brands, Nothing plans to space out its top-end launches and only introduce a new flagship when there is a clear step forward.
Nothing CEO Carl Pei has officially confirmed that there won’t be any flagship smartphone this year, suggesting that the launch plans for the Nothing Phone (4) have been dropped. This also indicates that the Nothing Phone (3) will remain the company's flagship even in 2026.
In a YouTube video, Pei mentioned that instead of launching a new flagship smartphone in 2026, the company will focus more on the A-series phones.
"We're focusing on leveling up our A-series with Phone (4a). It's our best-selling series, and we're pushing it closer to a flagship experience across materials, design, display, camera, and performance," the Nothing CEO said in the video.
Nothing CEO stressed that the brand does not want to follow the usual industry pattern of launching a new flagship every year. Unlike most smartphone brands, Nothing plans to space out its top-end launches and only introduce a new flagship when there is a clear step forward.
Notably, this approach is not new for the brand either, as the flagship Nothing Phone (3) itself arrived nearly two years after the Phone (2).
The CEO mentioned that the upcoming Nothing Phone (4a) will see a lot of changes compared to the Nothing Phone (3a), and users can expect premium materials, new colour experimentation, and an interesting overall look in the Phone (4a) series.
In the video, the CEO also spoke about RAM prices and mentioned that they have increased massively, more than at any point in the last 20 years, affecting phones, laptops, and other electronic items. Additionally, he said that the prices are expected to remain high till 2028.
Separately, the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro specifications were surfaced online recently, suggesting that the upcoming Phone (4a) is expected to flaunt a 6.82-inch AMOLED display with either a 120Hz or 144Hz refresh rate and up to 3,000 nits peak brightness.
The phone might be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage and run on Android 16-based Nothing OS 4. Meanwhile, a certification listing suggests that it will pack a 5,080mAh battery with 50W charging support.
Notably, these specifications are based on leaks and speculations. Therefore, they should be taken with a pinch of salt. Stay tuned for more updates.
