Smartphone brand Motorola has joined the bandwagon of Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus and Google by unveiling its first book-style foldable smartphone, the Motorola Razr Fold, at CES 2026. According to the company, the newly announced smartphone is designed to move with the user and adapt to everyday usage through flexible layouts.
The Motorola Razr Fold has been announced in two colours — Pantone Lily White and Pantone Blackened Blue. It features an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO inner display and a 6.6-inch outer screen, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the newly announced foldable phone packs a 50MP Sony LYTIA primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. There’s a 20MP camera sensor on the inner display and a 32MP camera for selfies and video calls.
Motorola mentioned that the device supports Dolby Vision recording and features improved video stabilisation for more stable, cinematic-looking footage.
In terms of usage, the Motorola Razr Fold is said to support flexible layouts, adaptive interfaces, and Moto Pen Ultra stylus input for multitasking. On-device features like Catch Me Up and Next Move are also included.
The company hasn’t revealed the chipset details yet. However, reports suggest that the Motorola Razr Fold is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.
The concept of foldable devices is not new, as Samsung launched its first foldable device, the Galaxy Z Fold, back in 2019. With the Razr Fold, Motorola is entering the book-style foldable segment much later than its competitors.
With the launch of the Motorola Razr Fold, the company will be competing with devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, Google Pixel Fold lineup, and offerings from OPPO and OnePlus.
With an emphasis on large-screen productivity, multitasking capabilities, and flagship-level hardware, these products currently dominate the premium foldable market.
It is important to note that Motorola is entering a competitive market with the Razr Fold, where pricing, software optimisation, and long-term durability are expected to be crucial factors in determining its market standing.
