WWDC 2026 began yesterday at Apple Park in the US, where CEO Tim Cook opened the keynote, and Apple executives, including Craig Federighi, Apple's SVP of Software Engineering, and others, showcased several new features, including iOS 27 and next-gen Apple Intelligence. Take a look at some of the key Apple AI features, including enhanced photo editing, Siri AI integration, Image Playground, and more, announced at the WWDC 2026 keynote.
The tech giant has introduced the next generation of Apple Intelligence, built on a completely new architecture. Notably, the updated system is deeply integrated across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Apple Vision Pro.
According to the company, the Apple Intelligence update focusses on keeping user privacy front and centre, understanding personal context, and making everyday apps noticeably smarter and more useful in daily life.

Spatial Reframing lets users adjust and improve the composition of a photo even after taking it. It allows real-time changes in perspective and framing by using the spatial understanding of Apple Vision Pro.
The new Extend tool allows users to expand an image to add more space, straighten horizons, or change the aspect ratio while intelligently filling in the missing areas in a realistic way.
The Clean Up feature has been significantly improved, making it easier for users to remove unwanted distractions with more natural results, even in busy or complex scenes.
Any photo edited with these AI tools will also carry a hidden SynthID watermark for authenticity.
With the new update, Automatic tab organisation groups open tabs into relevant topics on its own. For example, it can automatically collect all travel-planning tabs together.
Meanwhile, Notify Me allows users to monitor specific web pages for changes, such as price drops or restocks, and sends a notification when something updates.
Describe an Extension lets users create custom Safari extensions by describing what they want in plain language.
With the updated feature, users can now automatically upgrade weak or compromised passwords with just one tap. The system uses Apple Intelligence and Safari to handle the sign-in process securely.
With Image Playground, users can generate photorealistic images in different styles using a new generative model that runs on Private Cloud Compute.
Users can describe changes in words or simply tap, circle, or brush to move and resize objects.
It lets users create Lock Screen wallpapers and Contact Posters and also supports custom aspect ratios.
All AI-generated images include a hidden SynthID watermark for authenticity.
In Messages, users get one-tap contextual suggestions, such as quickly creating reminders or finding relevant photos based on keywords, people, or locations.
In Mail, suggestions have now become smarter, including actions from third-party apps, and Smart Reply adapts to the user's personal writing style.
Call Context in the Phone app displays helpful information during ongoing calls, such as confirmation codes.
In Calendar, users can simply describe an event in plain language to add or modify it.
The much-awaited Siri AI comes as a more personal and capable version of Siri, and this time there's a dedicated Siri app. The updated voice assistant has improved context understanding and the ability to take actions across different apps.
It is worth noting that the new Apple Intelligence features announced at WWDC 2026 have been confirmed to be available to developers for testing now. Meanwhile, a public beta is expected next month, while a full release for users will roll out this fall alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and other updates on supported devices.
Additionally, Apple has announced that the new Siri will not be available at launch in the EU on iOS and iPadOS. The company also said that Siri and several other new Apple Intelligence features will not be rolling out in China for now, as it works through regulatory requirements.
What is Apple Intelligence and how does it work?
Apple Intelligence is Apple's AI system designed to make everyday tasks more intuitive and efficient across its devices. It combines on-device processing with Private Cloud Compute to understand personal context, provide helpful suggestions, and enable AI-powered features while prioritising user privacy.
Which Apple devices support Apple Intelligence features?
The latest version of Apple Intelligence is integrated across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, and Apple Vision Pro. However, the exact list of supported models will depend on Apple's official compatibility requirements for each feature.
What new AI-powered tools does Apple Intelligence offer?
Apple Intelligence introduces several new tools, including enhanced photo editing features such as Spatial Reframing, Extend, and an improved Clean Up tool. It also brings smarter Safari capabilities, Image Playground for AI image generation, password upgrades, contextual suggestions in Messages and Mail, Calendar actions, and an upgraded Siri with improved context awareness.
How does Apple Intelligence protect user privacy while using AI?
Apple says privacy remains at the core of Apple Intelligence. Many requests are processed directly on the device, while more complex tasks use Private Cloud Compute, which does not store personal data and offers verifiable privacy protections.
When will Apple Intelligence features be available globally?
Apple has confirmed that the new Apple Intelligence features are available to developers for testing now. A public beta is expected next month, while the broader rollout will begin this fall alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and other software updates on supported devices.
